Why the answer isn’t just 40 minus your hours
Two drivers with the same 32 hours on the books can have very different answers. The window slides: hours from a block that started 167 hours ago still count, and an hour later they don’t. Nothing resets at midnight on Sunday.
The part that costs drivers real money is the forward check. When you tap to accept a block, Amazon evaluates the cap at the time that block will start. Older hours have aged out by then. Add a block for tomorrow above and watch the number: work you did last weekend may not count against it at all.

How many hours can I work on Amazon Flex in a week?+
Forty, in most of the country and most of the year — but not per calendar week. Amazon measures a rolling 168-hour window that slides forward continuously, so hours from last Tuesday drop off this Tuesday rather than resetting on Sunday night. During peak season Amazon raises the cap to 50 hours in many regions, and there is a separate daily limit of 8 hours (10 in peak).
Why does Amazon say I'm capped when I've only worked 30 hours this week?+
Because the window does not follow your calendar week. If you worked heavily last weekend, those hours are still inside the 168-hour window today even though they belong to "last week" in your head. The calculator above shows the window as Amazon actually measures it — count backwards 168 hours from now, not to Sunday.
Can I accept a block that would put me over the cap later in the week?+
Often, yes — and this is the part most drivers and most articles get wrong. Amazon checks the cap at the moment the block would START, not right now. Hours age out as that moment moves forward, so a block on Thursday is judged against Thursday's window. A driver who looks maxed out today can be perfectly clear for a block two days away, which is why this calculator reports the worst moment rather than only the present one.
Does the cap count scheduled blocks I haven't worked yet?+
Yes. Blocks you have accepted count against the window from the moment they are scheduled, not once you finish them. Add them above so the number reflects what Amazon will see when you try to grab one more.
Do DoorDash, Spark, or Uber hours count toward the Flex cap?+
No. The 40-hour cap is an Amazon Flex rule and only Flex blocks count toward it. Hours on other gig platforms are irrelevant to it — though they very much matter for your taxes and your real hourly rate.
